Can you list websites where you would purchase running gear at discounted prices.

Hi Richard. This is a comparison website for running shoes... www.ransacker.co.uk/I've rarely known sportsshoes.com be beaten on price but I suppose it depends what you're after. Also lookout for postage costs too. Sportsshoes charge £5 but some are free. Wiggle are quite cheap too.

Aldi sell running gear from time to time. The winter gear is due in around the middle of next month. You have to be quick though - it goes on sale on the Thursday and it's usually all gone by the weekend.
The quality isn't the best but it's really good value for the price.

I've bought my last couple of pairs of shoes from www.startfitness.co.uk, but I did use the link from Ransacker to compare prices. If you're lucky (or patient) you can often find last year's models in your size. Usually last year's ones are about £20 or £30 cheaper. If it is shoes you're after, I usually cross-check with Runners World www.runnersworld.co.uk/reviews/shoes/1.html to make sure I'm getting the right type of shoe. Stability shoes suit me best, and I found I was picking up injuries much more frequently when I strayed from that type. If you're not sure what type you need, it's well worth going somewhere like Up & Running in town to get your gait analysed.

I would advise you to check out Up and Running. The shop in town is very expensive but i have found that i am able to pick up a bargain from their online store. Go to www.upandrunning.co.uk/websales/index.php. If you register with them you do get email alerts when they have a sale on.

As we do some off road runs on winter mornings what off road shoes do people advise I buy, I've got some Brooks but I think my delecate feet need some thing with more cushioning

You don't find much cushioning in trail shoes as this is sacrificed for other features. I've got the Autumn Trail Running magazine so I'll let you have the shoe section. I think Walsh and New Balance are the market leaders.
